The Man Behind Sgt. Rock and Hawkman

Kubert helped define the look of characters including Sgt. Rock, Hawkman, Enemy Ace, Ragman, and Tarzan. His work moved easily between battlefield tension, pulp adventure, and quieter human moments, giving the collection more range than a simple parade of pinups. The book also reflects an influence that continued through the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art and the artists trained there.

A Granddaughter Opens the Collection

DC group editor Katie Kubert contributes a personal foreword about the artist readers knew and the grandfather she knew at home.
