Vans is wrapping the Old Skool 36, Classic Slip-On, and Loafer 53 in Harris Tweed, the wool cloth handwoven by islanders in Scotland's Outer Hebrides. The material gives each familiar shoe a dense plaid texture, but this is not a restrained heritage exercise. Gems, spikes, bright stitching, and deliberately distressed soles push the collection toward punk customization.

The Old Skool Carries the Hardware

The $140 Old Skool starts with blue-toned tweed and deep navy overlays, then loads its Sidestripe with peace-sign charms, stones, and metal spikes. The $130 Slip-On moves into a warmer Tweed Red mix of brown, khaki, orange, green, and blue, with more studded decorations across its laceless upper. Both use the cloth as a busy foundation rather than a single quiet accent.

A Loafer Gives the Plaid Room to Settle

At $120, the Loafer 53 is the collection's most natural meeting of traditional fabric and shoe shape. Its fuzzy penny-loafer upper pulls the tweed toward dress footwear while the thick Vans sole keeps it connected to the brand's skate roots. All three pairs share orange cheetah-print insoles and worn-looking sole treatments, small details that tie together three silhouettes with very different personalities ahead of their September 24 release.
