Kojima's Espionage Game Finds a New Publisher

Physint is moving forward under Xbox Game Studios after PlayStation ended its role as publisher. Hideo Kojima first announced the project with Sony in January 2024 as a return to the action-espionage genre that defined much of his career. Kojima Productions spent three months seeking a new partner after being notified of Sony's decision in mid-June 2026.

Xbox Deepens Its Kojima Connection

The agreement expands a relationship already built around OD, Kojima Productions' separate Xbox horror project. Physint remains a distinct production, with an ambition to reshape action espionage through a presentation that draws from both games and film. That combination fits Kojima's interest in cinematic storytelling while returning him to stealth-driven material.

The Mission Stays Under Wraps

Kojima Productions has previously attached actors Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe to the project, giving the cast an international profile before gameplay has been shown. The publisher handoff keeps development alive, but no release date accompanies the new agreement. For now, the important shift is that Physint still has a home and that Xbox is backing Kojima's return to a genre closely tied to his name.
