Crimson Desert’s First Expansion Arrives This Year

Pearl Abyss is targeting the first Crimson Desert DLC before the end of 2026. The expansion follows the action RPG’s rise into one of the year’s biggest games despite a mixed critical reception at launch.

The First Add-On Is Also a Test

Details about the new gameplay and price have not been disclosed, with more information expected during the third quarter. Pearl Abyss says later expansions will depend on how this initial DLC performs, giving the release unusual weight in determining the game’s long-term shape.

Growth Extends Beyond New Story Content

The studio is also preparing a Switch 2 version and researching multiplayer possibilities. Co-op would be especially complex to add, and Pearl Abyss has not decided whether that idea belongs in an expansion or a separate title.

The Beginning of a Larger Franchise

Pearl Abyss sees Crimson Desert as the start of a franchise rather than a closed single game. This first DLC is therefore more than another batch of content: it is the earliest signal of which parts of the world and combat system the developer believes can carry that future.
