Two Larger Screens for DS Games

The Anbernic RG DS Plus expands the company's clamshell handheld with two 4.3-inch displays, each running at 1024 x 768 resolution. That resolution supports 4x integer scaling for Nintendo DS software, while the lower panel adds touch input for the included capacitive stylus. A built-in microphone covers games that originally asked players to speak or blow into the system.

A Hinge Made for Flexible Viewing

Anbernic connects the displays with a stepless dual-alloy hinge, letting players set the upper screen at a comfortable angle rather than choosing from a few fixed stops. Physical controls include an analog stick and four digital shoulder buttons. Front-facing speakers, a headphone jack, dual USB-C ports, and two microSD card slots round out the exterior.

Linux Takes Over the Software Side

The RG DS Plus moves from Android to Linux and uses the new NNDSS emulator. Its software includes quick saves, screen swapping, real-time clock support, microphone input, and 76 shader options. The familiar Rockchip RK3568 processor returns, paired here with 1GB of RAM, and Anbernic has removed built-in eMMC storage to hold down the cost.

Three Colors and a Short Launch Discount

Metallic Blue, Matte Black, and Coral Pink versions have been shown. Anbernic has not confirmed a release date, but says the handheld will cost less than $100. The introductory price is expected to land around $90 during the first 72 hours, making timing especially important for anyone interested in the lowest launch price.
