Homey Portal is a small round controller designed for the moments when pulling out a phone feels absurd. Its 2.8-inch touchscreen sits inside a tactile steel dial, letting you adjust lights, music, and temperature with the directness of a familiar household control instead of another app menu.

One Screen for Rooms, Routines, and Cameras

The display can surface devices by room or zone, show notifications, and present simple yes-or-no prompts triggered by Homey Flow automations. It can also display live camera feeds, making the Portal useful for quick checks as well as everyday adjustments.

A Translator for a Crowded Smart Home

Compatibility is the bigger reason to pay attention. Portal works with Matter, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread, reaching a catalog of more than 70,000 supported devices rather than locking the dial to one brand's bulbs or plugs. Setup and customization still happen through the Homey app, but routine control can stay on the device itself.

Less Phone, More Muscle Memory

Power comes through USB-C, and preorders are open at an introductory price of $249 before the regular price rises to $299. Shipping is planned for December. If Homey gets the interface right, Portal could turn a jumble of smart-home products into something guests and family members can operate without a tutorial.
