Mattel’s original Xbox set recreates Microsoft’s famously substantial first console at full 1:1 scale. The 3,509-piece build is not a functioning Xbox, but it turns the machine’s chunky silhouette—and its equally chunky controller—into a display piece meant to feel as imposing as the 2001 hardware.

Three Games Hidden Inside the Console

The finished model houses removable miniature scenes inspired by Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Psychonauts. Each module comes with an associated figure and can be taken out for separate display, making the set as much a compact tribute to the early Xbox library as a console replica.

Those three choices capture very different pieces of the system’s identity: its signature science-fiction shooter, a sprawling fantasy role-playing game, and one of the era’s strangest platforming adventures.

A Controller That Lights Up the Memories

The brick-built controller is interactive. Pressing one of its buttons triggers lights in a game module and plays music from the corresponding soundtrack, while a concealed button combination activates an additional lighting sequence.

Preorders are open through Amazon, Best Buy, and Mattel Creations. At $330, it costs more than the original console did at launch—but few Xbox anniversary pieces ask you to assemble the entire machine before putting it on the shelf.
