Hyrule Gives Switch 2 Its First Anniversary Makeover

Nintendo's Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition turns Switch 2 hardware into a tribute to the full series rather than a single game. Metallic green Joy-Con 2 controllers sit beside a black system and dock covered in gold symbols. The result feels ceremonial without losing the clean shape of the standard console.

Triforces Run From the Dock to the Joy-Con

Gold Triforce patterns appear across the back of the console, while the dock places a large crest front and center amid geometric Hyrule imagery. A tiny pixel-art Zelda decorates the rear of the right Joy-Con 2, connecting the modern hardware to the character's earliest appearance. Textured foil artwork also appears on the special packaging while supplies last.

One Console for Forty Years of Adventures

The edition was revealed during the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct alongside a matching Pro Controller, carrying case, amiibo, and new Ocarina of Time merchandise. Its broad iconography makes room for several eras of Zelda history, even though the hardware arrives just one week before the Ocarina of Time remake.

Nintendo Keeps the Anniversary Edition Close

The Nintendo Switch 2 - Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition releases October 29, 2026. Nintendo has not announced its price. Availability is planned through the online Nintendo Store and Nintendo's physical stores in New York and San Francisco.
