Samsung Pushes the Refresh Race to 1100Hz

The new 27-inch Odyssey G6 is built for players who measure improvement in fractions of a millisecond. At 1080p, its IPS panel can refresh at an extraordinary 1100Hz, giving competitive games a new ceiling for motion clarity and input feedback. It is the first gaming monitor announced at that speed.

Dual Mode Trades Speed for Sharpness

The headline number is only available at Full HD, but the monitor can switch to 1440p when a sharper picture matters more. In that mode it still reaches 600Hz, a rate far beyond ordinary high-refresh displays. A 1ms response time supports both settings and keeps the G6 squarely aimed at esports rather than cinematic single-player games.

The Rest of the PC Has to Keep Up

An 1100Hz panel only shows its advantage when the system can generate frames at a similarly extreme pace. That makes the G6 best suited to lightweight competitive titles, aggressive graphics settings, and powerful processors capable of feeding the display consistently. Most buyers will get more everyday value from the 1440p mode, while the 1080p option remains ready for tournament-style play.

Samsung plans to release the Odyssey G6 in the second half of 2026, with pricing still to come. It is a specialized monitor, but it also marks just how far the pursuit of smoother PC gaming has moved beyond 240Hz and 360Hz.
