A $50 Camera Built for Automations

Shelly Camera is less interested in becoming a sealed-off security product than in joining the rest of a smart home. It records 1080p video across a 110-degree horizontal and 70-degree vertical field of view, then exposes enough controls and integrations to make that feed useful beyond a standalone camera app.

Watch the Door, Ignore the Window

Custom motion zones can focus alerts on specific areas, while automatic event recording and thumbnail notifications help distinguish useful activity from background movement. Black-and-white night vision covers dim rooms, and two-way audio adds a microphone and speaker for quick conversations.

Local Options Alongside the Cloud

Recordings can use an optional microSD card or Shelly's EU-based cloud service. RTSP, MQTT, WebSocket, scripting, and Home Assistant support open the camera to local dashboards and automations, while an optimized low-resolution stream can feed a user's own local AI processing. Cloud object recognition is available for those who prefer the managed route.

Privacy Is a Control, Not an Afterthought

Blackout zones hide selected parts of the image, and Privacy Mode gives users a direct way to switch monitoring off. Powered over USB-C with a two-meter cable included, the $49.99 camera will be sold through Shelly's store and resellers soon in white and black finishes.
