The Compact Beam Finally Fires Upward

Sonos Beam Ultra adds the hardware its predecessor simulated: real upward-firing drivers for Dolby Atmos height effects. The soundbar remains close to the familiar Beam footprint, but its new nine-driver arrangement produces a true 7.1.2 presentation with seven ear-level channels, a bass channel, and two height channels.

Nine Drivers, More Room Around the Dialogue

Five tweeters handle high and midrange detail, including a center tweeter, two horn-loaded side units, and the two upward-firing speakers. Four woofers fill out the lower frequencies. The result is designed to spread movies wider, lift effects above the screen, and keep voices clear without requiring a physically imposing bar.

Still Built to Grow With Sonos

Beam Ultra connects to a television through HDMI eARC and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, voice control, and the TV remote already in hand. Trueplay can tune playback to the room, while Speech Enhancement and Night Sound offer practical help when dialogue or late-night volume matters more than spectacle.

A More Ambitious Middle Child

The bar can expand with Sonos surrounds and a subwoofer, and TV Audio Swap supports up to two pairs of Sonos headphones. Preorders are open at $699 ahead of September 29 availability, placing Beam Ultra between the basic Ray and the larger Arc Ultra in both size and intent.
