Below brings creature horror to a remote Newfoundland fishing village whose livelihood already feels fragile. Calvin Penney, played by Josh Hartnett, is a fisherman and family patriarch still marked by his father's mysterious death. When a violent presence begins attacking the community from the ocean, the old loss and the new threat start to close around him.

Calvin's Son Brings the Terror Home

The danger stops being an offshore mystery when Calvin's son Wade begins showing frightening symptoms. Charlie Heaton plays Wade, while Mackenzie Davis appears as marine biologist Fonda, who joins Calvin in trying to understand what is beneath the water. Their investigation unfolds as strange events push other residents toward panic and violence.

Six Episodes for a Coastal Nightmare

Creator and showrunner Jesse McKeown builds the limited series around a town fighting for both survival and a vanishing way of life. The cast also includes Rohan Campbell, Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, and Kaleb Horn. Below debuts October 8 on Netflix with six episodes. Its strongest hook is the pressure on every side: Calvin has an unknown creature offshore, a sick son at home, and a community whose fear may become as dangerous as the thing in the sea.
