Sorkin calls it a companion piece rather than a direct sequel, using the events behind The Wall Street Journal's Facebook Files investigation as its foundation.

A Whistleblower Carries the Evidence Out

Mikey Madison plays Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, who leaked thousands of pages of internal records. Jeremy Allen White plays Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, the journalist who helps turn that material into a public investigation. The leaked research raised questions about whether Facebook put profits ahead of safety while keeping its own findings from investors and users.

Jeremy Strong Takes Over as Zuckerberg

Jeremy Strong steps into the role of Mark Zuckerberg instead of Jesse Eisenberg. The cast also includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr. Sorkin writes and directs this time, taking over the filmmaking side from David Fincher while continuing the fast, confrontational style associated with the original screenplay.

The Social Reckoning reaches theaters October 9. Its central conflict is no longer who controls Facebook, but what happens when people inside the company expose what that control has produced.
