Kara Zor-El Takes the New DCU Into Space

Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the harder-edged Kryptonian first glimpsed in Superman. The story sends the interplanetary drifter on a journey of vengeance and justice after violence strikes close to home. Eve Ridley joins her as Ruthye, while Matthias Schoenaerts plays the ruthless Krem of the Yellow Hills.

An Unlikely Crew Forms Around Kara

The supporting cast brings together Krypto the Superdog, David Corenswet's Superman, and Jason Momoa as the bounty hunter Lobo. David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham appear as Kara's parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze. Craig Gillespie directs the DC Studios film, which draws heavily from Tom King and Bilquis Evely's Woman of Tomorrow comic.

A Different Kind of Kryptonian Hero

Kara's experience is defined by surviving Krypton directly, giving her a sharper relationship with loss than her cousin Kal-El. Her reluctant alliance with Ruthye places that anger inside a wider moral argument about revenge. The Theatrical Flight Lands at Home

After its summer cinema run, Supergirl begins streaming exclusively on HBO Max on September 10. A linear HBO premiere follows September 12 at 8 p.m. The streaming arrival gives viewers a chance to meet Alcock's Kara before her next appearance in the connected DC universe.
