Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story revisits the 1892 killings of Andrew and Abby Borden through the fourth chapter of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's Netflix anthology. The eight-episode season looks inside the wealthy New England household before and after the crime that made its name infamous.

Family Cruelty Fuels the Revenge Story

The series focuses on the Borden home's repressed relationships and the cruelty surrounding Lizzie and the family's maid. Their escape into revenge gives the season a psychological frame beyond the question of guilt. Charlie Hunnam and Rebecca Hall play Lizzie's father and stepmother, placing the central family conflict in the hands of a strong dramatic cast.

Other Infamous Women Enter the Frame

Sarah Paulson appears as serial killer Aileen Wuornos, while Vicky Krieps plays Elizabeth Báthory. Their inclusion widens the season's interest from one murder trial to the way notorious women are remembered and turned into cultural symbols. The chapter follows earlier Monster seasons about Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers, and Ed Gein.

Eight Episodes Arrive at Once

Max Winkler directs six installments, with Sarah Adina Smith directing episodes four and six. Brennan co-created and wrote the season alongside executive producer Murphy and the wider production team. All eight episodes premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 17, 2026, giving the Borden case a complete season rather than stretching it across a continuing release.
