Dyson Builds a Robot for Dry Floors

The Nurovi R1 Dry is Dyson's straightforward robot vacuum for homes that do not need a mop attached to everything. It handles carpets and hard floors with 21,000 Pa of suction, aiming at the everyday mix of crumbs, grit, hair, and fine dust. Within the new Nurovi family, this is the dry-cleaning model, sitting apart from the R2 Wash+Dry and the R3 Spot+Scrub UV.

Two Ways to Catch the Mess

Its twin-capture system divides the work instead of asking suction to do it all. A brush bar sweeps up larger pieces while the motor pulls in smaller particles, and a piezo sensor reads the amount and size of dust passing through. The robot also recognizes the floor beneath it and adjusts suction to suit the surface.

Edges Are Part of the Route

An extendable side sweeper reaches into crevices and along walls where a round robot body usually leaves a narrow strip behind. Once cleaning is finished, the bagless dock empties the onboard bin and can hold up to 90 days of dry debris. That keeps the routine closer to occasional maintenance than a bin-clearing chore after every run.

The Entry Point to Nurovi

At $549, the R1 Dry is positioned as the least expensive route into Dyson's new robot lineup. It skips washing and UV treatment, but keeps the adaptive suction, edge hardware, and long-capacity dock that matter during ordinary floor cleaning.
