Three Motors in a Compact AMG

The electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic uses three axial-flux motors, one at the front and two at the rear, to make 670 horsepower. Mercedes targets 0 to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, while the front motor can disconnect when efficiency matters more than maximum traction.

A Long-Range Battery With Serious Charging

Its 94-kWh battery supports a quoted 416 miles on the European WLTP cycle for the sedan. Peak charging reaches 330 kW, with a 10-to-80-percent stop estimated at 22 minutes, putting the smallest electric AMG on credible road-trip footing.

AMG Drama Goes Digital

AMGFORCE S+ creates simulated gear changes, recorded combustion sounds, and seat vibrations timed to the artificial powertrain experience. The sounds were built from recordings made with 13 microphones and extensive measurements, an elaborate effort to give the quiet drivetrain a sense of mechanical occasion.
