Mariana Enriquez's Stories Bleed Together

The four-part Netflix miniseries is rooted in the title story by Argentine writer Mariana Enriquez, with references to other work including A Sunny Place for Shady People. Enriquez co-wrote the adaptation with Guillermo Calderón, Anastasia Ayazi, and director Pablo Larraín. That structure allows the show to carry more of her haunted Buenos Aires world than one short story could hold by itself.

Four Episodes Become One Festival Film

Mercedes Morán stars as Emma opposite Dolores Fonzi as Julie, with Alejandra Flechner and Carolina Álvarez also leading the cast. Before its Netflix debut, the series competes in the San Sebastián International Film Festival's Official Selection, where all four episodes are presented in a feature-length format. It reaches Netflix on September 24. Larraín's involvement fits the material: this is supernatural horror built around grief, family inheritance, and the unsettling possibility that seeing the dead may be less frightening than sharing their sadness.
