Sony's Smallest New Tower Is Still 29 Pounds

The ULT Tower 5 is the compact entry in Sony's new party-speaker trio, although compact is relative when there is a 230mm woofer inside. Two midrange drivers and two tweeters join it, creating a portable floor-standing system built to deliver more weight than a typical battery-powered Bluetooth speaker.

Four Ways to Shape the Room

ULT1 emphasizes bass, ULT2 pushes overall power, FLAT leaves the equalization alone, and LIVE aims for a concert-like presentation. A front-facing ULT control keeps those modes and volume close at hand, while the Sound Connect app provides a custom EQ for finer adjustments.

Twenty Hours Away From an Outlet

The internal battery provides up to 20 hours of playback, and an integrated handle makes the 29-pound cabinet easier to move. IPX4 water resistance adds some protection around splashes, while built-in party lighting lets the speaker change the room visually as well as sonically.

More Than a Bluetooth Box

Bluetooth and Auracast handle wireless playback, but XLR, RCA, and USB-C inputs also open the Tower 5 to microphones, instruments, and DJ gear. Launching in September for $449.99, it is the most approachable model in the range for karaoke nights and parties that still need to fit in an ordinary living room.
