Mike Flanagan's Carrie stretches Stephen King's first novel into an eight-episode Prime Video series, with Summer H. Howell taking the title role. This version places Carrie's isolation and telekinetic awakening inside a modern high school, where a viral bullying scandal can spread cruelty far beyond a locker room.

Eight Episodes Before the Shattering Night

After her father's sudden death, Carrie leaves the home she shared with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret, and enters public school for the first time. The longer format follows the small choices that accumulate around her, giving classmates, teachers, and family more space before everything converges. Samantha Sloyan plays Margaret White, with Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

Flanagan Returns to Stephen King

Flanagan writes, produces, and directs four episodes, returning to King after Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck. King is also an executive producer. The story has been filmed several times, most famously by Brian De Palma in 1976, but television gives this adaptation room to ask a more complicated question about Carrie: whether relentless harm is creating a victim, a hero, or a monster.
