Opal Ice Shrinks Its Countertop Footprint

The GE Profile Opal Mini brings the brand's chewable nugget ice to kitchens that cannot spare room for a full-size countertop machine. At 14.56 inches high, 8.6 inches wide, and 15.6 inches deep, its narrow body is built for apartments, drink stations, offices, and other tight setups. The base model starts at $299 in Stone Gray or Charcoal Gray.

Thirty-Four Pounds a Day From a Slim Machine

Despite the smaller case, the Opal Mini can produce up to 34 pounds of ice per day at a rate of 1.5 pounds per hour. A lighted bin and scoop come with the base version. The familiar soft nuggets are made to absorb the flavor of a drink while staying easy to chew.

SmartHQ Keeps an Eye on the Ice

Wi-Fi support connects the machine to GE's SmartHQ app for scheduling ice production, checking status, and receiving maintenance alerts. Voice control works through compatible Amazon and Google devices. A scale-inhibiting filter is available to help manage mineral buildup, along with cleaning and descaling accessories.

Pro Models Add Tanks and Filtration

The wider Mini line includes a $379 Pro model with a side tank, dual filtration, colored bin lighting, and stainless-wrap finish. A $399 Pro+ version adds a stainless-steel exterior and scoop. All three became available in July 2026, letting buyers choose between the simplest compact Opal and versions designed for fewer refills and a more finished appearance.
