RuneScape Makes Its Console Debut

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will bring the series to a console for the first time in its 25-year history. Version 1.0 launches September 15, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and PC, with Game Pass availability at release. It can be played alone or cooperatively with a group of up to four players.

From Ordinary Adventurer to Dragon Slayer

The survival RPG sends players to Ashenfall, a forgotten continent ruled by the dragon queen Kuldra. Characters begin without heroic status and improve familiar skills from level 1 to 99 while gathering materials, crafting gear, building a home, and fighting increasingly dangerous creatures. Black Knights, Zogres, Kalphites, Garou, and multiple kinds of dragons connect this new setting to RuneScape's wider world.

Familiar Skills Become Useful Magic

Skill Spells turn routine survival work into playful magical shortcuts. Players can summon a spectral axe to cut trees, blast apart ore, blink across short distances, or conjure a tornado to catch fish. Even the old bones-to-peaches spell returns with a practical purpose, converting battlefield remains into food when supplies run low.

A Larger Ashenfall at Launch

During early access, Jagex expanded the playable map to roughly three times its original size and built out three distinct regions. The full release also includes hundreds of construction pieces for players who want to make detailed settlements rather than simple shelters. Continued updates are already mapped into 2027, giving the console launch a foundation broader than the game's initial survival loop.
