Upper Deck's Hasbro license begins with The Transformers: The Movie, but the agreement reaches well beyond Cybertron. Future trading cards and games can draw from Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms, giving several generations of animation and toy history their own collector releases.

Every Target Box Completes the Base Set

The first special edition celebrates the Transformers film's 40th anniversary with cards styled after cinematic posters. Each box contains the full base set plus Stellar System inserts, and collectors can chase parallels or autographs from Peter Cullen, the longtime voice of Optimus Prime.

Fleer Adds Comics and Moving Transformations

Another movie-anniversary set follows under Upper Deck's Fleer brand with a 100-card base collection. Its From Screen to Page inserts use art tied to the 20th-anniversary IDW comics, while lenticular cards show characters changing between vehicle and robot forms or present villains in a layered 3D treatment.

The First Film Sets the Standard

Starting with a tightly defined anniversary gives Upper Deck room to show how it will handle Hasbro's properties before the partnership expands. The Target-exclusive release emphasizes completeness and premium chases, while the later Fleer set digs into comic art and physical card effects, establishing two distinct approaches from the outset.
