Xenoblade Chronicles 2 returns with a smoother frame rate and resolution up to 4K in TV mode. The adventure still follows scavenger Rex and Pyra, a living weapon called a Blade, as they search for refuge in the fabled paradise of Elysium. Its cloud sea and Titan-borne civilizations now receive a cleaner presentation on Nintendo's newer hardware.

MOMO Brings Two Forms and a New Quest

The edition adds a Rare Blade named MOMO, who can switch between two forms to change both appearance and elemental affinity. She arrives with a dedicated quest, giving returning players a fresh character thread alongside the visual upgrades. New outfits also expand the appearance options for Pyra and Mythra.

Merc Missions Become Playable Battles

Merc Assault turns the old mission concept into an action mode where players directly command up to six Blades. Movement, fighting, and character swapping happen under the player's control, with combinations of Blade Specials forming the key to victory. The mode makes a previously indirect part of the game into its own hands-on combat system.

Returning Owners Pay Only for the Upgrade

The complete Nintendo Switch 2 Edition costs $69.99 and became available July 30, 2026. Owners of the original Switch release can buy a $9.99 upgrade pack instead, which requires the base game. A compatible display is needed for 4K output, where frame rate is capped at 60 frames per second.
