Final Fantasy Imagined Through Modern Pixel Art

Final Fantasy Resonance asks what the series might look like if it had kept pushing pixel art instead of leaving it behind. Its HD-2D world mixes finely rendered characters with dimensional environments, while cinematic scenes turn 3D animation into moving pixel imagery. Chocobos, airships, Crystals, and a world-threatening foe keep the adventure rooted in familiar Final Fantasy language.

The Timeline Makes Every Turn Visible

Combat remains command-based, but a timeline previews the upcoming order for allies and enemies through the next round. Draining an enemy's stagger gauge cancels its turn and lowers its defense, rewarding players who time attacks around that sequence. A sweeping stagger can also open an Extra Phase and a Vision-specific Resonance move.

Heroes Return as Equippable Visions

Story events award Visions, crystallized essences that teach new abilities as they are used in battle. Learned skills can remain equipped after changing Visions, within a cost limit, creating combinations similar to a flexible job system. Sanctums around the world hold Visions of past Final Fantasy heroes, including a challenge against Sephiroth with a special reward.

The First Chapter Is Ready Now

A free PS5 demo contains the entire opening chapter and introduces the battle system before launch. Save data carries into the full game, removing the need to replay that material. Final Fantasy Resonance arrives on PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2026.
