Minecraft Gets a Native Switch 2 Home

The best-selling game is moving onto Nintendo’s newer console with an upgrade path planned for owners of the original Switch version. Mojang has not explained that process yet, but existing players will not necessarily need to approach the release as a completely separate purchase.

Vibrant Visuals Switches On by Default

The enhanced graphics mode adds directional lighting, volumetric fog, improved shadows, and other visual upgrades. Nintendo’s exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up pack receives the same treatment, giving its themed world a more dramatic lighting pass.

Better Graphics Come With Some Boundaries

Vibrant Visuals will not operate in split-screen play, certain game modes, or some Marketplace Worlds and other content. Those exceptions matter for a game played in so many different ways, but the default solo experience should look substantially stronger than the previous-generation edition.

Joy-Con Mouse Building Is the Open Question

Mojang has not confirmed Joy-Con 2 mouse control. That feature could make precise placement and fast construction especially natural on Switch 2, so its inclusion—or absence—may shape whether this edition feels meaningfully adapted to Nintendo’s hardware beyond the visual boost.
