Cooperation No Longer Stops at the Host's Radius

State of Decay 3 lets four players spread across its largest map without forcing everyone to remain close to one host. A group can start a community together, operate several settlements, and divide its attention between supplies, defenses, recruitment, and territory. The broader freedom turns multiplayer into actual shared management rather than a visiting-player arrangement.

Survivors Carry the History of Every Loss

Permanent death remains the rule, but the game is building more story around what a missing person meant to everyone else. Skills and equipment vanish with the survivor, while relationships and later events preserve the social cost of the mistake. A risky trip can therefore reshape the community even after the immediate shortage has been solved.

Alpha Players Have Already Changed the Apocalypse

Feedback from early tests has improved movement, sound, lighting, weather, and visual detail. Character creation now offers more clothing and personal features, and combat can place several special infected in one encounter. Closed beta tests planned before the end of 2026 will expand participation and help Undead Labs evaluate the larger world under real cooperative pressure.

The 2027 release is planned for Xbox Series consoles, Xbox on PC, cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5, with Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. Its defining idea is a dispersed community whose survival story belongs equally to everyone helping build it.
