Ryu and Ken Enter the Ring Again

The new live-action Street Fighter centers on the strained friendship between Ryu and Ken, played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo. Their reunion pulls them into a larger conflict shaped by the series' colorful fighters and rivalries. Director Kitao Sakurai is handling the adaptation for Paramount, Legendary, and Capcom, with a worldwide theatrical release planned for October 16, 2026.

Signature Moves Make the Jump to Live Action

The trailer does not hide the game's exaggerated combat vocabulary. Ryu throws a Hadouken, Chun-Li unleashes her Lightning Legs, and E. Honda delivers the rapid strikes of his Hundred Hand Slap. Guile's military swagger is present too, while a fist bump drawn from Street Fighter III gives longtime players a smaller reference to spot among the larger effects.

M. Bison Returns as the Threat

David Dastmalchian plays M. Bison, bringing the franchise's best-known villain back to the screen. The footage suggests a balance between grounded physical choreography and the impossible techniques that define the games. That approach will be central to whether the film can make its crowded roster feel like recognizable people instead of a sequence of costumes and cameos.

A Franchise With Something to Prove

Street Fighter has reached live-action film before, most notably in 1994 and again with The Legend of Chun-Li in 2009, but neither became a lasting template for the series. This production has direct involvement from Capcom and a trailer willing to embrace the source material's personality. It will also open in IMAX, giving its tournament-scale fights the largest theatrical presentation available.
