Kia Gives Its Small Electric SUV Real Punch

The EV3 GT takes Kia's compact electric all-rounder and turns up the response without abandoning everyday range. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system produces a combined 288 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque, enough to reach 62 mph in 5.7 seconds while retaining an EPA-estimated 280 miles between charges.

Chassis Hardware Joins the Extra Power

An electronically controlled suspension works with the all-wheel-drive layout to sharpen handling rather than treating the GT badge as a straight-line upgrade. Kia also adds Virtual Gear Shift and Active Sound Design, systems that mimic the sensations and soundtrack of a combustion-powered performance car. The theater will be a matter of taste, but drivers can still see the intent in the neon-green brake calipers, 20-inch wheels, semi-bucket seats, dedicated steering wheel, and GT-specific interface.

A Performance EV at an Approachable Price

At $45,890 in the United States, the EV3 GT brings the growing Kia GT family below the larger EV6 GT and three-row EV9 GT. It uses the bigger 81.4 kWh battery, balancing its added output with a range figure suited to ordinary travel. The result is a rare combination in the current electric market: a quick, small SUV with distinctive hardware that does not demand a luxury-brand budget.
