An E-Bike With a Virtual Drivetrain

The ALSO TM-B replaces a familiar mechanical chain of pedals, gears, and wheel with the company's DreamRide drive-by-wire system. Pedaling generates an electronic input that controls the rear motor, while automatic electronic shifting adjusts the response. A carbon belt, full suspension, and Rivian-influenced industrial design complete a bike that feels closer to a software-defined vehicle than a conventional commuter.

The Battery Leaves the Bike Behind

Its removable battery can double as a large USB-C power source away from the frame. Integrated lighting, GPS tracking, connected security tools, and an extensive sensor package are built into the platform. ALSO also designed interchangeable top-frame accessories, allowing the same base bike to take on utility and cargo roles.

Performance Comes at a Premium

The Launch and Performance versions offer up to a 100-mile range, 10-times pedal assistance, air-fork suspension, and standard or sport ride modes. A less expensive base model drops to a 60-mile maximum, five-times assistance, and a coil fork. The line starts at $3,500, while the higher-spec versions begin at $4,500.

The Long Wait Nears Its End

ALSO grew out of Rivian and brings a similar taste for clean design and tightly integrated technology to two wheels. The TM-B's ambition has made it one of the more closely watched premium e-bikes, even as its delivery schedule has slipped. Launch Edition customers are now expected to receive their bikes by early November.
