A MINI Named for the Engine Under Its Hood

The MINI 1998 GT Edition takes its name from its turbocharged 1,998cc engine and turns the Cooper C 2 Door toward sharper handling. It is the sixth of MINI USA's eight Icon Drops and the third car in a GT bloodline that began with the 1,275cc Mini 1275 GT in 1969. The later 1499 GT followed the same displacement-based naming idea in 2021.

JCW Hardware Without the Full JCW Badge

A seven-speed sport transmission, paddle shifters, John Cooper Works suspension, and JCW brakes give the special edition more serious cornering equipment than its Cooper C foundation suggests. Midnight Black Metallic paint and 17-inch black JCW Sprint Spoke wheels keep the exterior restrained, with 1998 GT graphics providing the model-specific flash. It is a compact car built around chassis upgrades rather than a large power claim.

The Badging Continues Inside

Black Vescin and knit JCW sport seats sit behind a heated three-spoke steering wheel carrying another 1998 GT emblem. The same identity appears on the door sills, floor mats, key-fob covers, and Miko Box, so the edition feels deliberate beyond its side decals. Prices start at $36,875 before destination and dealer charges, with cars expected in fall 2026. Its strongest argument is the combination of small dimensions and factory-installed handling parts.
