Jacob Chase Returns to Intimate Horror

Jacob Chase will direct after making Come Play and Insidious: Out of the Further. His work often finds fear inside ordinary domestic spaces, which makes a sleepover a natural setting for his next feature. The sixth Insidious film opened to $60 million worldwide shortly before this project was announced, giving Chase fresh momentum within studio horror.

A Short Story Becomes a Feature Script

Chase co-wrote the screenplay with Night Swim writer Bryce McGuire, adapting McGuire's original short story. McGuire and Chase also serve as executive producers alongside Bea Sequeira, with Jason Blum producing. That shared writing credit puts the original author inside the expansion process as a compact premise grows into a full-length film.

The Mystery Is Part of the Invitation

No cast or detailed plot has been announced, so the central image remains the draw: a sleepover where the usual excitement gives way to something frightening. That restraint suits a project whose title turns an ordinary event into a warning. The eventual first trailer will have plenty to reveal without needing to explain why the setting already feels vulnerable after midnight.
