The Niro Is All-In on Regular Hybrid Power

Kia has simplified the 2027 Niro around a single identity: every version is now a conventional hybrid. The plug-in and battery-electric variants are gone, leaving a 1.6-liter four-cylinder and electric motor to produce 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. It remains front-wheel drive throughout the range.

A Sharper Face Comes With a Steeper Bill

Fresh bumpers, new lighting, and a cleaner dashboard bring the Niro closer to Kia's current design language. The base LX now starts at $31,385 including destination, a $2,500 jump from last year. A new S trim lands at $32,085 with heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, rear air vents, and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

Bigger Screens Reach the Base Model

Every Niro now gets a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, replacing the smaller displays previously fitted to lower trims. At the top, the $40,485 SX Touring adds a matching digital gauge cluster, surround-view cameras, and an upgraded highway assist that can change lanes after the driver signals.

The update gives the compact hybrid more polish and better standard technology, but it also pushes the Niro unusually close to larger crossovers on price. Its appeal now depends on buyers valuing efficiency and city-friendly size enough to choose it over Kia's roomier Sportage.
