Kia Leaves Its Bestseller Mostly Alone

The gas-powered 2027 Sportage carries forward the compact SUV formula that made it Kia's bestselling vehicle in the United States. Its 2.5-liter four-cylinder still sends 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft through an eight-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive standard on most trims and all-wheel drive available.

X-Line Gets the Upgrade That Matters

The main equipment change belongs to X-Line. A panoramic sunroof and hands-free power liftgate are now standard, folding the useful pieces of last year's Premium Package into the trim. Its all-wheel-drive setup and darker exterior treatment remain aimed at shoppers who want the rugged appearance without moving all the way to the X-Pro.

Prices Rise by a Predictable $200

Every gas Sportage trim adds $200 for 2027, while the $1,495 destination charge stays unchanged. That puts the LX at $30,485 delivered and the X-Pro at $41,475, with the EX, X-Line, SX, and SX Prestige filling the space between them. Adding all-wheel drive to a front-drive trim costs $1,800.

There is no dramatic reinvention here, which may be exactly the point. The Sportage already offers one of the broadest powertrain ranges in its class, since hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions continue alongside this model. For buyers focused on the regular gas SUV, 2027 is a gentle price adjustment with a better-equipped sweet spot in the middle.
