The M340i Successor Moves Closer to M3 Pace

BMW's 2027 M350 xDrive takes over the fast 3 Series slot previously held by the M340i, and the new badge comes with a serious power increase. Its turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and 48-volt mild-hybrid system produce a combined 443 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive helps turn that output into a 4.1-second sprint to 60 mph.

One Computer Coordinates the Whole Chassis

BMW routes the car's powertrain and dynamic systems through a central controller informed by a six-dimensional motion sensor. It can blend differential locking, individual-wheel braking, and torque distribution during a corner instead of treating them as separate reactions. Model-specific bracing, firmer springs, and an active rear differential give the M350 hardware to match its quicker decisions.

Drift Moment Arrives by Software

A coming Drift Moment mode will switch the xDrive sedan into rear-wheel drive for controlled slides. The feature will not be ready at launch, but BMW plans to add it through an over-the-air update during 2027. The M350 still reaches an electronically limited 155 mph in its standard configuration.

Neue Klasse Ideas With a Gasoline Heart

The sedan carries BMW's newer design and Panoramic iDrive approach while keeping the straight-six engine that defined its predecessor. Production is scheduled to begin later in 2026 after final dynamics testing in Miramas, France. That mix makes the M350 the bridge between the outgoing sport sedan and BMW's next generation of performance cars.
