Volvo's New Starting Point for Electric SUVs

The rear-wheel-drive EX60 P6 is set to become Volvo's entry-level EV once the smaller EX40 leaves the lineup in 2027. At $59,795, it moves the brand's opening electric offer into a larger, newer SUV rather than replacing the EX40 with another compact model. That makes the P6 the key version for buyers who want the EX60 without paying for dual motors.

One Motor, 307 Miles

The P6 pairs an 83-kWh battery with a single rear motor producing 369 horsepower. Its estimated EPA range is 307 miles, and Volvo quotes a 0-to-60-mph time of about 5.7 seconds. The 800-volt electrical architecture also gives the least expensive EX60 the same modern charging foundation as the more powerful models.

A Lineup With Room Above It

Buyers who need all-wheel drive can step up to the P10, which adds a second motor and stretches its EPA estimate to 330 miles. The change in Volvo's range is significant: the EX60 is no longer simply a middle sibling between smaller and larger electric SUVs. With the EX40 departing, this roomy platform becomes the front door to Volvo's entire battery-powered lineup.
