The Tucson Goes Square

Hyundai has redrawn the 2027 Tucson with a boxier shape, pronounced fender flares, and a much tougher stance than the outgoing compact SUV. Full-width light bars run across the front and rear, while angular headlights and taillights sharpen the corners. It is a clean break from the intricate creases that defined the previous generation.

A Giant Screen Changes the Cabin

The interior receives an equally dramatic reset. A large central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, joined by a rounded center console, a two-spoke steering wheel, and bright orange accents. The mix looks more architectural and less conventional than most compact-SUV cabins, giving the Tucson a distinct personality without relying on exterior styling alone.

The Hybrid Finds Eleven More Horses

Hybrid and nonhybrid powertrains will continue, but the electrified model gets the clearest early specification. Its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system produces 242 horsepower, an 11-hp increase over the current Tucson Hybrid. Hyundai has also shown the rugged XRT trim with its own front treatment.

U.S. dimensions, fuel-economy figures, and nonhybrid engine details are still to come. The plug-in hybrid's future has not been detailed either, but the stronger standard hybrid already gives the fifth-generation Tucson more than a visual reason to stand apart.
